Pants pockets are the infamous ones, but jackets have just as much to answer for.
Pockets are just better bigger. You can fit more, adjust your hand position easily, and things are less likely to fall out. The diminishing returns on big pockets are when they become unwieldy to search. That's much larger than pockets will ever reach.
You don't realize what you're missing till you have it. It was annoying not being able to fit my phone into some pants without risking it tipping out, but even more than that I didn't realize how much I missed the space, of being able to fully rest my hand in the pocket without feeling cramped.
Buy clothes with bigger pockets. Sew in bigger pockets to your existing clothes.
It can only make things better.
