When you're taking down quick notes, write it in pen.
Why?
You can't erase, so all you can do is keep writing. Disables the internal editor. Handy for most things in writing, but especially quick capture.
If you start thinking about what to fix, you forget what you meant to write. Even if you think you remember, you forgot the nuances. Working memory is limited.
Having the option open to erase things, even if you never exercise it, will change your thought process. I can see it in real time. My handwriting changes in pen. The kinds of quick notes I take are different in pen compared to typed on my computer.
Don't let that happen unintentionally.
Erasing is also detrimental in general. Quick notes aren't going to be polished, so all you're accomplishing is removing context. If you change your mind mid-sentence, start writing the corrections right after. Having both versions will make it easier to review the notes later and fill in the parts lost to speed.
Why would you take that away?

Nightly Notes
Huh, I forgot yesterday was the end of the month.
I'm a third of the way, done?
Done is a strange word here, I don't plan to stop after a year specifically. Since I started at the start of the year that's how my mental progress bar is tracking.
Every day I tell myself to drag out the streak one more, and here we are. Nice that's working, though it's still wreaking havoc on my schedule.
In retrospect, I didn't plan this out nearly enough, and yet I cannot fathom how I could have planned better knowing what I did. I'm thinking about moving some other projects into a daily routine like this and seeing how that feels.
I'm glad I'm here.
I hope you are too.
