Perpetual Rewiring

Darks

I was folding my laundry the other day and realized I rarely pick bright colors and never light ones. All the light fabric in my life is incidental carryover from before I thought to consider colors.

White is the default for so many things.

I know there's reason behind the long tradition of white linens besides lack of dyes, but honestly I don't care. I never choose white, and evidently I don't need to. I basically never choose brights either, so I may as well commit to only darks and make my logistics and aesthetics that much simpler.

Here's my declaration for the day.

I'm not going to acquire any more light fabrics. No whites, minimal brights. Clothes, linens, towels, bags, anything made of fabric where I have a choice.

I'll keep the few light things left since none of them are in dire need of replacement, but they'll be phased out eventually.

That's all. We'll see how it goes.

Nightly Notes

This isn't really a recommendation, I don't think it's worth swapping if you aren't someone who already has a restricted color palette.

Cutting the last 5% of anything is always a bit tricky.

I hardly buy anything anyway, especially in light colors, so was it even worth writing about? It would have happened on it's own.

I dunno.

I wanted to say it, I guess. It was never pointed out to me that this is a choice one would make. So I wanted to make it, and have a record left that I'm making it beyond a sad little white towel in my laundry basket.

Apparently, this is enough.
