Defrosting

Meat cooks better when it's not frozen. I never remember to defrost it, because I never think I want a particular meat item a day in advance. Then mealtime comes around, and suddenly I want something to cook.

I could get around this by meal planning, but that's never going to happen.

Instead, when I'm grabbing anything from the fridge, I do a quick check-in. The trick is to take the choice out of it. THe question isn't "What do I want to eat next?", it's "Am I likely to want to cook a big meal in the next day?". If the answer is yes, something gets moved to the fridge. Once it's in the fridge, it has to get cooked.

It might not be what I planned, but it's better.

Nightly Notes

I can't think straight today. At least there's decent food at the end of it.

It was slightly burned, but not that way.

I'm taking the small wins.
