You would think this is obvious, but apparently it's not.
A humid bathroom immediately after a shower is perhaps the worst possible place to let your bath towel dry. It may be well ventilated enough to compensate, but weather and building design notwithstanding it will almost certainly be worse than hanging in a dry room by an open window.
The same thing applies to sinks. Why would you let a sponge or soap bar dry than on a smooth surface which will accumulate water instead of draining it and is constantly being splashed when you wash your hands?
It's convenient to dry things by where you use them, and those areas have the bonus of being designed to handle water in case of drips. Sometimes that tradeoff is worth slower drying.
Sometimes you can split the difference, such as by setting up a spot to dry things a couple inches away from the sink instead of directly on it. Lean things on their sides or use a holder which increases airflow.
Regardless, that's a tradeoff you should deliberately choose, not default into.

I've been thinking about picking up new daily habits solely on the basis that this has been going so well. Sometimes it's a chore, but on the whole I think it improves my mood and keeps me grounded. Can't be out of it for too long when there's another post to write.
