Spot the problem in the following scenario:
Become thirsty.
Attempt to drink water.
Water is empty.
Get up to refill water.
Drink water while walking back.
Resume previous activity.
Repeat.
Found it?
There's no water where I am. I get up every single time because I drink the water while I'm walking back.
It would be simpler to stop using a cup and just drink at the source so I don't keep carrying the empty cup back and forth. Or get a larger one, but I'm happy with the size of my water cup.
The solution is simple.
Refill twice.
After the first refill, drink till satisfied, then fill again. Only then walk back. You spend more time refilling, but you halve the number of times you have to get up.
This might or might not be desirable.
While the water cooler was a social artifact of 2010s office culture, the principle of facilitating spontaneous routine interaction and breaks from work is good.
But I'm more concerned about my hydration. More likely, I won't feel like interrupting my work at that moment and will forget to refill the water for several hours.
Know yourself.
I know I need to refill my water twice.

Nightly Notes
I filled my water three times while writing this post. Everything comes back to physical health eventually, doesn't it. One day I'll nail down the basics.
Anyway.
Writing is back to feeling normal. I had topics lined up for the day, but then I needed to refill my water and here we are. The tone of this one is different from normal, still not sure what I'm going for.
Slow and steady experimentation. I'm going to go drink more water and stretch.
You should too.
