I use floss which comes inside a teensy box with a flap to cover the floss strand and cutting blade. It's fine floss, but the flap is always slightly too small and awkwardly angled to easily open. I don't want to deal with that with wet hands.
I could just never close the floss, but that's both annoying and surprisingly difficult as it's designed to be closed when not in use.
Thankfully, the sealed end of a toothpaste tube is just the right thickness and stiffness to wedge under and open the flap. Much easier to grab and open with, and it's always right there with the floss.

I'm quite sure I heavily underestimate the amount of work that goes into package design, though I know nothing about it as an industry. I was recently delighted to discover a packaged food I buy recently changed the adhesive on the plastic film covering the top of the jar so it's possible to peel off without stabbing a hole into it first. It's ten seconds once every few months, if even that much.
But you notice the little things when they hurt.
